Separate Deanery was founded in 1780, simultaneously with the formation of the county to the city center of Sofia in Sofia. Deanery called by county - The Sofia. In 1823, the name of the district was changed to "Deanery Pavlovsk, Gatchina and Tsarskoye Selo", and after 6 years of Tsarskoye Selo district was divided into two Deanery.
